Baptism

“Go and make disciples of all nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father,

and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,

teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”

– Matthew 28: 19-20

Congratulations on taking this important step to bring your child into our Catholic faith through the Sacrament Baptism.

We are blessed to accompany your family as you prepare for this sacred celebration. Baptism is the first sacrament of initiation and marks the beginning of your child’s life in Christ and in the Church.

For children under the age of 6, the church asks parents to complete the preparation process before the sacrament is celebrated. This helps families understand the meaning of Baptism and the responsibility of raising their child in the practice of the Catholic faith.

Our Formation Process

Our formation preparation is designed to empower parents to feel confident in raising their child in the Catholic faith.

While it is a great responsibility to lead your child in faith, we want to create a community of support for your family as you bring your child to the sacrament and guide them throughout their faith journey.

Here is the basic outline of our process:

  • Complete the online Baptism inquiry form
  • Register to attend a formation class prior to the anticipated baptism date.
  • Familiarize yourself with the Godparent requirement and eligibility form.
    • Ensure Godparents return the completed form.
  • Attend Baptism Formation session.
  • Schedule your child’s baptism upon completion of the formation session and receipt of Godparent forms.
Guidelines

In accordance with the Catholic Church and Canon Law, the following parameters are established for Baptism:

  • The child must be six (6) years of age or younger.  If the child is seven (7) years old or above, please contact Tammy Kessler, for catechesis appropriate to their age.
